Shane Eagle Takes Us On An Odyssey of Self-Expression Through His Sophomore Album, Green

Following an array of compelling singles, award-winning rapper Shane Eagle has finally unleashed his highly anticipated sophomore album, Green. The “Ap3x” hitmaker’s eighteen-track project comes just a few weeks after the release of its euphonious lead single, “Numerology.” Feature-shy, the album only sees appearances from acclaimed American actor and rapper Omari Hardwick and breakout star, Redveil.

Record opener, “Paranoia”, sets the album’s enchanting tone through a lonely harpsichord followed by Eagle rapping, “Somebody make the pain go away.” He further raps: “This that sh_t these doctors can’t fix”, possibly alluding to heartache. Themes of pain and heartache are further explored in “War Paint”, which samples Bob Marley. In the heart-wrenching song, Shane Eagle speaks about the obstacles faced by the homeless during the rainy season.

A light-hearted atmosphere is introduced in “Streetfighter”, giving us a glimpse of Eagle’s braggadocious alter ego. He raps: “They know that Eagle the goat, but this one is not for the slaughter”, demonstrating his skilful wordplay. Braggadocio is further demonstrated in the trap-infused “Metal Slug”, where Shane Eagle flexes his lyrical muscle, stating that he has “poetic license.” He also raps: “I gave ‘em a classic, they askin’ for more” in “Road Signs” – reminding us of his consistency since the release of his 2017 album Yellow.

As per usual, Shane mentions his long-term girlfriend, Nicole, quite a few times. He proves to be smitten by his partner in “Memory” when he raps: “This is forever like Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse, Body and Soul” – referring to the pair’s iconic duet while simultaneously alluding to the depth of the love between himself and his partner. Eagle also mentions his partner on “Road Signs” when he sings, “Nicky just counted three-hundred in front of me like that sh_t was nothing.”

The album’s serene title song, “Green”, showcases Shane Eagle’s versatility. He narrates a tale of love and patience through melodious harmonies along with a smooth, digitally-enhanced beat. Shane Eagle also gives us harmonious melodies in “Numerology” and “A Ladder”.

Apart from its pristine sonics and artistic song compilation, Green is a testament to Shane Eagle’s effortless musicality and a masterclass in the fusion of lyricism and melody.
