Canadian superstar Drake and Atlanta trap star 21 Savage have released fresh visuals for their latest collaboration song ‘Spin Bout U’. The song, extracted from their debut 2022 collaboration Her Loss, bring the music video offering to four as an official duo, following ‘Jimmy Cooks’, ‘Privileged Rappers’, and the TikTok banger ‘Rich Flex’. The direction of the album’s third music video drop comes courtesy of Dave Meyers.
The lavish music video begins with a bird’s-eye-view shot of a yacht sailing amid the open ocean. A shades-wearing 21 Savage overlooks the vast body of waters as he raps before spotting a dame drowning out at sea. Right after Drake throws a lifeline to rescues the damsel in distress, they look on in awe as she dries her naked self with a towel before they take her in.

The story arc follows in the footsteps of the Greek fable of sirens, the beautiful women-like entities who lured sailors with the honeyed voices of their singing before drowning them. But then again, the music video deviates from the tale by merely trading the siren’s singing ability for extra beauty, which is something the rappers are suckers for when looking at any woman.
Unbeknownst to the rappers, a collective of women hijacks the boat, skulking with the dezft fluidity of the Talokan swarming the Wakandan ship. The rescued woman, taken care of by Drizzy, sprays him with a white-coloured powder which dazes him and eventually knocks him out.
When the rappers regain consciousness, they are already tied up and surrounded by pretty-faced pirates. Led by the woman they rescued, the crew proceeds to rob them while trashing the boat in a display of flamboyant pyrotechnics, bat-wielding savagery, and gun-toting thievery.
The music video ends with the bandit of thugs on their way, away from the burning boat, their little mode of transport darting away from the mess they left in an ignoble blaze.
As short and direct as the story is, it lines up with a Drake narrative of materialistic women coming, taking everything he owns, and leaving him to die with his friends. It might come off as shallow from one end, but from another lens, the music video is a grim reminder of who to let in and who to keep out and love from afar.
