DJ Supta drops his new single ‘Khuleka’

DJ and radio personality SUPTA, today, releases his second single coming off his upcoming EP that will be released later in the year.

Titled ‘Khuleka’, which follows his earlier release ‘Emathandweni’ and features talented vocalist Basetsana, is a spiritual song of prayer inspired by his own unrelenting belief in prayer and his personal outlook in life. That everyday presents new opportunities and chances for new beginnings.

“The song speaks of a new day, which is figuratively represented by the sun rising and setting. That when it rises, it’s a new day and when it sets it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the end of life – a new day is coming. This same analogy is what I live by that even when sometimes things might not go my way, a new day represents hope. When the sun rises, there are new possibilities in store for us.

“It also seeks to be a reminder to people to stay firm in praying, in their individual beliefs. And that’s why the song encourages people to pray, being steadfast in ones belief – whatever that might look like,” he said.

The muso, who has been in the studio since January, said Basetsana became a perfect vocalist for the song after their brief encounter where Basetsana expressed that she would love to work with him. As fate would have it, Supta was gearing up to work on his second EP project, and the rest is now history.

Khuleka’ is also described as a reimagination of Josh Groban’s classic ‘Remember When It Rained’, with Supta explaining that the proof is in the melodies.

He shares that his EP is 80% complete, and although it doesn’t have a title as yet – it will continue on the theme of spirituality and encouragement.

“It’s just a matter of selecting songs now to bring the EP to a 100% completion because the music is there, we just need to align with the theme.

“Working on the EP has helped me to further understand what my purpose is within the music industry and what my position is. For a very long time, I never understood what my purpose is and I just made music. But now, I understand that I am an artist that makes music to inspire, to give hope, motivate people and to help the listener connect to their spirituality. I am a spiritual being myself, so the music will reflect that a lot,” he said.
