Tyla Throws a Jamboree at a Brazilian Favela In Her “Shake Ah” Music Video

Only a month since the timely release of the exotic car wash-themed visuals for “PUSH 2 START”, Tyla has let loose a new music video for yet another song in the deluxe version of her self-titled debut album titled “SHAKE AH”. With the Grammy-winning popiano empress mobilising the Tygas and taking charge as all roads lead to Mzansi for her countrywide homecoming tour, the 22-year-old Jozi fairy’s visual presentation run since “Water” suggests that the global supernova has her sights set on more than simply milking the material of her maiden project.

The chapter of “SHAKE AH” opens with a stunning bird’s-eye shot of the tightly packed Brazilian jewel that is Rio De Janeiro clinging to the side of the mountain overlooking quiet waters. The calm beginning offsets the chaotic events that unfold with deliberate pacing, with the “Truth or Dare” superstar making a flashy entrance arrayed in her signature skimpy and jewel-encrusted raiment with pendulous tassels and a sparkly masquerade mask.

Flanked by two ladies, the trio thread through the claustrophobic alleys of the shanties as they converse before the next frame cuts the scene short, showing them being chauffeured around the bustling streetlight-illuminated streets at night by bikers, some stone-faced while others have faces frozen in permanent expressions of gleeful smiles.

Joined by her guests on the song – Tony Duardo, Optimist Music ZA, and Ez Maestro – the destination is a carnival epicenter, with the location’s denizens steeped in nocturnal celebration and hedonistic choreography.

With Japan and now Brazil being checked off the list due to love and popular demand, “SHAKE AH” is yet another thoughtful gift from Tyla to her audience in other parts of the world. In a world where artists thank their followers in other countries with social media posts, Tyla’s practical demonstration of gratitude by stepping off stage and relinquishing the glitz of being arguably Africa’s biggest pop star, even if only for a little while, is a breath of fresh air.

One only has to keep their eyes on the way she smiles and gyrates her hips on the music video to know that it’s not only the lyrics of the song that mean everything to her but the people surrounding her who continue lifting her higher with their support and very presence.
