Garth Brown Returns to the Path of Music to Complete Full Circle Moment

Singer-songwriter Garth Brown recently released his five-track extended play titled Let There Be Light accompanied by his single “Endaweni”, not to usher in a new era but to reintroduce himself to a path already well acquainted with.

Garth shared the process leading up to its drop, revealing that there were more works made before it that never broke out of the booth.

“When it comes to this project, there were two albums and an EP recorded and never released leading up to it and that was for a bunch of reasons. This one was actually the body of work that got to make it out. I think it was because I was happy with the sound and the positioning and the messaging of the EP. It was a matter of looking at it and deciding within myself that the EP perfectly framed what I wanted to say and contribute to the world of the art and to the people at large,” Brown said.

Pouring honesty into the EP was the intention underpinning the creative foundation of the work. Garth spoke about the direction he took with the release.

“I’m happy with the direction I took with this EP because it’s an honest piece of art, in as much as I think that as an artist it’s natural to consistently evolve when it comes to who you are. While some things will always remain at the foundation of who you are, Let There Be Light is reflective of my current headspace and the overall experiences I’ve had coming to this moment. And I think that’s what art should do—it should reflect life and reality as already experienced,” he said.

Garth shared future prospects for the rest of 2026.

“I have a few remixes that are in the works at the moment, and I have another EP I intend on dropping later this year. I also have some collaborations on the way I can’t speak about as yet, but it is international and I’m looking forward to that as well as creating new music. I feel blessed that the doors have opened for me in the industry in such an effortless manner,” he said.

Garth talked about music being a part of him and feeling that he still had more to give to the world as a man and as a musician.

“There’s still so much more left to be done, but I’m grateful for what I’ve achieved so far. It has all went according to plan and the purpose, but there’s still so much I have to give, learn and offer. And I’m excited to share that with the world in the art space and outside of it. I’ve done a lot of things behind the scenes in the industry and even my mentor has said to me that I don’t speak enough about the things I’ve done and that I should make it a habit to do so. And this is because I treat what I do as a job, something to be done and it sometimes does get to a point where I neglect my achievements along the way and even the fact that I do it at a high level.

“Music has always been second nature to me and the path was always going to call me back. First time I did a song was in 2012 and it went on to become such a mega hit. I was talking to the producer of it and he told me that the song is probably sitting at 50 million streams in total since its release. I sometimes still hear the song when I’m out and about and see people reacting to it like it’s new and fresh. So everything happening this year feels like a full circle moment,” he said.

Garth finished off with a lesson in authenticity in crafting art.

“One thing I’ve learned is to stay true to yourself. When making music, once you start obsessing with what’s happening out there, you begin creating from a place of wanting to trend and not because you want to make art that is true to you. So I do believe it’s important to stay true to yourself. It’s important to know what’s happening in the world and the sounds around you, but you should never ever leave yourself behind in the process. I admire artists who are faithful to their lanes. Amapiano blew up but you still heard music from Shekhinah and she didn’t jump because that’s not who she is. That’s admirable,” he said.
