It’s always a good time ahead when amapiano’s bare-chested muscle man TOSS makes an appearance. Inimitable with his deep vocal performances and theatric choreography, the singer-cum-entertainer showed out with new visuals for “Mjolo”, a single from his Indaba Kabani EP. Co-starring Scotts Maphuma, and social media personality Blue Aiva as the video vixen, the video also features cameos from comedian Robot Boiii and afropop star Sjava.

A cautionary tale on the sordid playing field of relationships and the dating scene, the Big Shark-directed music video begins with a topless TOSS sitting on the arm of an aged couch, preoccupied with his phone. Then enters Aiva, in sun-yellow skimpy clothing and black sneakers; the temptress’s presence contrasts with the aesthetic of the opening scene dominated by recessive colours of the mortar brick wall, the drab sofa, and the “Umlando” hitmaker’s brown skin. The former Big Brother housemate hardly gives TOSS a chance – no, not even a chance to exchange pleasantries – and, just like that, she’s all over him, her arms on his shoulders with the “Tetema” star smiling and smitten.
The story of the instant lovebirds follows them throughout the short film, capturing them out on a date, which encompasses spending time together bonding over a packets of go slo and getting to know each other over a lunch outing.

RobotBoiii Diffusing the Tension | SUPPLIED
The plot takes a twist as the introduction of Maphuma avails that Aiva is two-timing the men, with the damsel excusing herself from the date with TOSS – perhaps under the guise of needing to go the loo – to go take a call from the other man. Dramatic irony reaches its height when a three-way split screen shows Maphuma seemingly uneasy while on a call with the rather cool-and-collected Aiva, while TOSS scrolls on his phone in the restaurant, beaming at the screen.
The charade finally comes crashing down when Maphuma catches Aiva all lovey-dovey with TOSS, and it is stark evident that neither one of the men knew the other existed because of the sheer surprise and Blue doing her best to explain herself out of the mess. RobotBoiii, pulling up in a taxi, diffuses the skirmish, and tells Blue to get in the car, something which Maphuma and TOSS are initially suspicious of – for good reason under the circumstances. RobotBoiii, after assuring them that he was taking her with him for “safety reasons”, takes off with the girl, leaving the men behind.
