Prince Benza and Londie London Explore Bold New Sounds in 3 Step with Latest Double Release

Prince Benza is one of the celebrated South African producers, known for his versatility and for shaping modern African music with a sound that blends Bolobedu House, Amapiano, House and Afrobeats.

Now, with his latest double release, the acclaimed producer makes a bold step into new sonic territory: 3 Step. His collaboration with muso Londie London on the two singles, “Ngiyabonga Nkosi” and “Ngizwile”, showcases a different side of Benza’s artistry — one that is experimental yet grounded in the emotional power of his collaborators.

“I realised I could do more with my talent — stepping outside of my comfort zone to collaborate across genres is what drove this double release,” Benza says.

The result is music that feels both daring and deeply moving. “Ngiyabonga Nkosi” is a spiritual tribute of gratitude, blending Londie London’s matured vocals with Benza’s layered, rhythmic production. The track swells with warmth, creating a soundscape that feels both contemporary and timeless.

In contrast, “Ngizwile” leans into vulnerability. Londie uses her personal story as an introspective tone that pairs seamlessly with Benza’s textured beats, creating a track that feels personal yet universal. The rhythm invites movement, while the lyrics demand reflection. It is in this balance — between groove and gravity — that Benza’s genius shines.

“It’s definitely more intentional. My previous work was me experimenting, finding my sound and space. With this double release, I’m more confident in my artistry and my voice. Musically, it’s richer and more layered, and conceptually, it carries a stronger narrative about who I am today versus who I was before,” shares Londie London.

When it comes to music, the star, who released a comeback track “Izandla” in June, shares that her ultimate aim is for everyone to feel like they’ve walked through a story with her and found a piece of themselves in it.

“Both songs came at a time when I wanted to express different sides of myself. And I was actually at Prince Benza’s studio to work on the tracks with Goon Flavour & Master KG, and from there on he played some of his beats and we clicked. With “Ngiyabonga Nkosi”, I leaned into my softer, soulful side, bringing honesty and emotion to the delivery. With “Ngizwile”, I tapped into a more bold, expressive energy. My input was making sure each song carried real emotion and connected authentically with the listener,” she shares.

For Benza, this double release is more than just about the songs — it is about evolution. Known for pioneering the Lekompo movement and his extensive work with artists such as Master KG, Makhadzi, Nomcebo Zikode, Shebeshxt, and even international stars like David Guetta and Akon, he has consistently pushed boundaries. Venturing into 3 Step is his latest chapter in keeping South African music innovative and globally relevant.

“I don’t want to be confined to one genre — my goal is for my music to be appreciated locally and globally, regardless of category,” he says.

The release also highlights his collaborative spirit. Listening to the two songs, Londie London’s vocals add richness and emotional depth, proving that Benza’s skill lies not only in crafting beats but also in creating spaces where artists can shine. Londie herself notes, “He knew exactly how to bring out my voice in a way that felt new but still true to me.

“Prince Benza has such a unique sound and ear for music. I’ve always admired how he blends traditional elements with modern Afro sounds. Collaborating with him felt natural because his production style complements my voice perfectly… it was just an instant match,” she adds.

What makes this double release stand out is not just the genre — it’s the story it tells.

“Ngiyabonga Nkosi” and “Ngizwile” embody themes of gratitude, growth and self-awareness which resonates with listeners on a human level. Paired with Benza’s sonic risk-taking, the songs are more than just hits — they’re markers of artistic evolution.

With a track record that includes platinum records and international recognition, Prince Benza’s journey is far from over. If anything, this double release suggests that he is only getting started.

“This is about showing that music has no boundaries,” he says. “It’s about creating sounds that connect people everywhere.”
