A One-Two About the Ones and Twos with Lady of the House SA Winner Queen Leshka

Originating in Johannesburg and carrying a heart that pulsates with the rhythmic thumping of the log drum, disc jockey Queen Leshka is one of amapiano’s novel talents. A contestant and an eventual honouree of the Lady of the House SA Competition, her promising beginning and prodigious hopes for the future herald an illustrious run in the near future.

Released on the 12th of December 2025 as one of the winners of the Lady of the House SA Competition alongside the victorious entries of Sharm Pillay and Lu-Zer, “Soul Train” marks Queen’s debut professional release. She shares what it was like creating the song and how the song came together.

“It was flowing emotions, like a train. The moment I put the chords I was in an emotional yet groovy state. I wanted to create something that can accommodate both feelings in one song and to also relate more with house/dance music lovers all over the world. For people to enjoy the real South African flavour of amapiano in a way that is relatable,” she says.

Inspired by the the legendary Dr Duda, Euphonik and Bekzin Terris, the burgeoning artist shares that she has it in her heart to see that her artistry grows until it is recognised on a mythical level.

“I’d like people to know me for my talent for creating iconic music. To set new records and inspire future upcoming females to reach for the stars and so that they know that all is possible to achieve,” she says.

Leshka shares that while she is eager to dip her foot in other genres, she has not been able to due to time.

“A part of me is eager to try new things that are not related to my sound. I haven’t had time to explore other genres and to learn new skills and to do something different from what I normally do,” she says.

The Soweto native shares the importance of keeping one’s mind open to influences outside one’s own genre and also to the input of producers.

“I work with other producers in the studio, so creativity doesn’t run out. I also like listening to other genres and to hear out for new sounds I can utilise in my own work,” says Queen Leshka.

With “Soul Train” garnering her expert plaudits and reassuring validation for her craft, Leshka dreams of reaching greater milestones, from touring the globe to sharing acceptance speeches at esteemed award ceremonies.

“I definitely see myself achieving bigger goals and international nominations, performing in some of the biggest platforms, being able to reach millions around the world through my music and contributing to the growth of amapiano all over the world,” she says.
